Comprehensive Anti-Aging Examinations and Evaluations

At MD Anti-Aging Institute, the following examinations and evaluations are conducted according to each patient’s individual needs.

1. Lab Test for Cardiac, Cancer and Other Risk Factors, including lipid profile, homocysteine, c-reactive protein, LDL, HDL, triglyceride, folic acid, fasting insulin, hemoglobin A1C, PSA (men), CA-125 (women).

2.Whole Body Scan is to take a trorough look inside your body and give you a heads up on detecting disease(s) such as various forms of cancer, heart disease and aortic aneurysms long before symptoms occur. It also looks for non-life-threatening conditions, such as gall bladder or kidney stones, osteoporosis and arthritis. In less than 20 minutes, the whole body scan machine takes hundreds of images of your body from the neck down to pelvis. The entire procedure is non-invasive and requires no injections. In case of any detection of suspicious indications, further diagnostic scars are need.

Furthur diagnostic scans include:

Lung Scan: to detect early stage of lung cancer, which is usually undetectable by an ordinarily x-ray standard CT.

Virtual Colonoscopy: to detect the presence of polyps throughtout the entire colon. It is a comfortable, yet has the same accuracy of colonoscopy.

Heart Scan: accurately detects calcified plaque build-up in the heart’s arteries, years before a standard exercise stress test could detect disease.

EB Angiography Scan: This non-invasive scan provides imaging of all major arteries. Injecting contrast intravenously, it is able to accurately show the condition of the arteries around an organ or the organ itself. It is performed as an outpatient procedure without sedation or of a catheter.

3. Bone Density Scan: to accurately measure bone calcium before major bone mass has been lost.

4. Hormones Deficiency Evaluation: including IGF-1, testosterone, free testosterone, FSH, LH, SHBG, estradiol, DHEA sulfate, TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Progesterone (women).

5. Allergy and Food Sensitivity Assay:

i. IgG Delayed Food Allergy Test: This assay is designed to detect circulating food specific immunoglobulin class G antibodies in serum. Total of 115 foods are tested. Once the foods that the patient is allergic to have been identified, the patient can avoid consuming them to prevent problems.
ii. Gluten Antibody Profile: It is a screening test for celiac disease. Once the result is positive, it must be followed by the complementary test, the Tissue Transglutaminase Assay, to confirm that the patient has celiac disease. If the patients are confirmed to have celiac disease, they will be ordered to adhere to a gluten-free diet for life.
iii. Candida Immuno Assay: This test is to find out the overgrowth of the fungal form of Candida occurring in the lower gastrointestinal tract. If the overgrowth is occurring, the patients should avoid diet high in yeast-containing foods, sugars, and refined carbohydrates.

6. Comprehensive Metabolic Function: To test the metabolic functions of major organs, such as liver and kidneys.

7. Biomarkers of Aging: including auditory reaction time, highest audible pitch, vibrotacti sensitivity, visual reaction time, muscle movement time, lung: forced vital capacity, lung: for expiratory volume, 1 sec, decision reaction time, decision movement time, memory, alternation tapping, visual accommodation (need for reading glasses).

8. Nutritional Assessment: testing blood, urine and hair to determine the deficiency of vitamins and minerals

9. Anti-oxidant Assessment: test blood, urine and hair to find out the deficiency of specific anti-oxidants.

Age Management Programs

MD Anti-Aging Institute provides the following treatment programs to help optimize your health, well-being and longevity.

1. Antioxidant Supplement Treatment
Free radicals are the major causes for aging. By consuming a great amount of all types of antioxidants can reduce the damage caused by free radicals thus preventing heart diseases, Alzheimers, stroke, joint problems, cancer, diabetes and even slowing down aging process.

Nutrition-type Antioxidants - Vitamin A, C, E and selenium etc.
Enzyme-type Antioxidants - SOD, GSH, Catalase, Co-Q10 etc.
Supplementing other nutrients such as vitamins and minerals also plays an important role to repair damaged and aging organs.

2. Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormones play an important role in the aging process. Therefore, by bring the hormones to the levels that yield superior health outcomes (usually between age 25 and 30), human beings can slow down or even reverse their aging process and also improve the quality of life, including increase in sexual potency and frequency, higher energy levels, improved attitude toward life, increased resistance to common illness, improved skin elasticity, enhanced emotional stability, better memory and pain relief.
In the 1990 Dr. Daniel Rudman Study, 12 men from 61 and 81 years old were treated with growth hormones and, 6 months later, their fat decreased 14% and lean body mass increased 8.8%, which is equivalent in magnitude to the changes incurred during 10 to 20 years of aging.
In August, 1996, FDA approved the use of growth hormones.
For best result, growth hormone should be used with other hormones, including Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, DHEA, Melatonin, Pregnenolone, Thyroid Hormone and etc.

3. Exercise Program
According to the experiment conducted by Ralph Paffenbarger for 17000 Harvard alumni, the mortality of people who burned 500-1000 calories each week by exercising (e.g. walking for 5-10 miles) reduced 22%; the age of people who burned 2500 calories each week by exercising prolonged 1 to 2 years; for people who maintained their ideal weight, consumed a diet of balanced nutrients, and took nutritional supplements, their physiologic age is 10-20 years younger their actual chronological age.

4. Diet Program
More than half American population is overweight and 1/3 is obese. Obesity may cause many diseases including hypertension, diabetes and cancers. Taking 5 servings of vegetables and fruits daily can decrease the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancers. The effects of taking 9 to 10 servings of vegetables and fruits and 3 servings of low-fat dairy product each day is equivalent to taking antihypertensive medication and can cut down the risk of stroke.
Keeping fat intake below 30% of total calorie intake and cholesterol below 200mg can dramatically reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Research indicates that insulin has a great influence in the aging process and obesity. Keeping the types of food intake daily in the smart zone to balance the secretion of insulin can be helpful for weight control and slowing down the aging rate. Selecting low glycemic diet can reduce the secretion of insulin thus controlling weight and preventing aging.

5. Aesthetic Enhancement
Botox: Botox is a formulation of botulinum toxin type A. It is derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This bacterium produces a protein that blocks the release of acetylcholine and relaxes muscles.

When injected, Botox travels thorough the tissues until it finds the nerve that ends on a muscle nerve ending absorbs the Botox, an d the medication acts to prevent the nerve from firing. It weakens the muscle, and the muscle can no longer produce the facial lines.

Ultimately, the nerve ending regenates, and the muscle regains its previous strength. This injections of Botox wear off and have to be repeated.

Botox works best on the upper third of the face. Forehead furrows, glabellar frown lines (below the eyebrows), and lines around the eyes (“crows feet”) nearly always respond favorably.

Lines around the mouth respond only about half the time. Injecting around the mouth risk uneven smile, even if the injection is properly performed. Dimples, discolorations, and sun damage do not respond to Botox.

Collagen Replacement Therapy: Collagen is one of the elements that keep the skin young, firm and smooth. When smiling, squinting, or frowning, we put stress on the underline collagen in the ski, which results in the development of facial lines. In addition, collagen is naturally while aging. Collagen Replacement Therapy refreshes the skin and makes people look younger. Collagen can be used for worry lines, glabellar lines, periorbital lines, cheek augmentation, and chin augmentation.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy can improve the appearance of Rosacea, flushing, broken capillaries, sun damage skin, age spots, skin texture, and photo aging. Treatment also improves mild acne scars, reduces large pores, corrects dark circles around the eyes, and reduces fine lines. Treatment is especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck, chest, and --.This exciting treatment involves little or no “down time”. You can resume normal activities immediately.

Chemical Peel/Facials: chemical peels can enhance your appearance by reducing blotchy uneven pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, freckling, age spots, sun-damaged skin, and acne—in a relatively short period of time. Chemical peels stimulate the production of new cells.

Chemical peels are topically applied acids that aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of the surface. They crate an even and controlled shedding of several layers of the skin. Depending on the type and depth of the peel, few or many layers can be shed allowing new layers to expo- creating a fresh new appearance.

Dermabrasion: Dermabrasion is a non-surgical, exfollating treatment helpful for those un—with acne scarring, sun-damage skin, age spots, freckles, stretch marks, fine lines, scars, large—pores, clogged pores and blackheads, roug, thick , dull or dry skin, and uneven skin color. Dermabrasion—can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, back, elbows, and feet and almost everywhere on the body--.
